A Kansas City man is facing a mountain of felony charges after prosecutors say he pulled off one of the wildest Facebook Marketplace scams in recent memory. 😳🚗
According to investigators, 24-year-old Mamadou Diallo allegedly sold vehicles to unsuspecting buyers, collected thousands in cash, and handed over paperwork that appeared legitimate. But the scheme didn’t end there.
Authorities say he secretly hid Apple AirTags inside the cars before the sales. After buyers drove away believing the vehicles were theirs, Diallo allegedly used the tracking devices and spare keys to locate the cars, steal them back, and sell them again to new victims.
Police say the scam targeted at least eight buyers and generated more than $24,000 before the pattern was uncovered. The investigation began after multiple victims reported their vehicles stolen shortly after purchasing them.
Diallo now faces 14 felony charges, including forgery and tampering with motor vehicles. If convicted on all counts, he could spend decades behind bars.
Imagine buying a car… only for the seller to come back and steal it from your driveway. 😳
